Tour of Hamsterley Rally 2011
Press Release April 03rd 2011

This year’s event is supported by SG Petch Ltd as in previous years. However there are changes in that there is a new start and finish and the rally is confined to Hamsterley forest.

The Start ,Finish and Service Area are all situated at the Wilson Art factory in Shildon. It provides an excellent tarmac area for servicing , undercover area for scrutineering/signing on and full use of their amenities .We are very grateful to the management of Wilson Art for the use of their facilities.

As mentioned, the competitive element of the rally is entirely within Hamsterley forest unlike previous years when Stang forest was also used. As recently reported Stang forest has been sold and is therefore unavailable. However we are in contact with the new owners’ representatives and hope to meet to discuss the possible use in the future.

The special stages in Hamsterley are quite varied, some being fast and smooth others being rather more technical and slippery. It has been said that the stages are amongst the best in England offering competitors a challenge due to their varied nature. Its also a very pleasant forest offering many facilities for bikers , walkers and families and well worth a visit. As always we are extremely grateful to the Forestry Commission for the use of their splendid roads.

We are pleased that the Tour of Hamsterley is a counting round of several Championships. They are The SG Petch ANECC stage championship , The Fuchs Titan ANCC championship, the ANWCC championship, the Competition Car Insurance EMAMC championship and the Motorscope Northern Historic championship.

The Rally is organised by Stockton and District Motor Club on behalf of the Teesside Motorsport Group.

Details of entries, times and locations will be available nearer to the start of event.
